Embrace: A Podcast for Survivors by Survivors about Sex and Intimacy

For several years we were employed together by the Brisbane Rape and Incest Survivors Support Centre (BRISSC) as a sexual assault workers offering counselling, support and advocacy to victim-survivors of sexual violence.

In 2019 we ran a 7-week support group for victim-survivors on sex and intimacy after sexual trauma. The group innovatively blended intersectional feminist theory with emerging somatic frameworks and practices.

We then supported group members to transform their process, reflections and learnings into a podcast - Embrace: A Podcast for Survivors, By Survivors - About Sex & Intimacy

Embrace is a 6-part podcast series that covers a range of topics, including: somatic safety, working with trauma, triggers, consent & sexual communication, arousal anatomy and orgasm. Each episode is split into two parts – a discussion between survivors, followed by accompanying somatic ‘practices,’ which support listeners to embody the concepts from the discussion.

This podcast is primarily intended for survivors; it is a resource offering honest and vital conversations between those impacted by sexual violence about their liberatory and challenging experiences of reclaiming desire, arousal and pleasure.

Embrace is also invaluable for those who support survivors, personally and/or professionally.

The Embrace podcast is available below and on all major podcast platforms.
